NORME di IGIENE e STERILIZZAZIONE

HYGIENE and STERILIZATION RULES
Our Podology studio meets the standards required by the Ministry of Health, with respect to instrument sterilization. This aspect concerns both the safety towards the patient's health, but at the same time the safety with respect to the health of the operator. In most patients we use disposable blades, but as in operating rooms, we have a sterilization cycle, with autoclaves that are constantly evolving. This sterilization cycle allows us to be completely "safe" about the sterilization of the instruments. The standard process of sterilization of an instrument foresees what is prescribed by the competent bodies in matters of hygiene and sterilization and is the following:
• Parking for about 20 minutes in an ultrasonic bath and liquid for cleaning from organic residues, which occurs at a microscopic level
• Drying of instruments which will then be wrapped so that, after sterilization, the instruments will remain sterile in the sealed bags until use
• Sterilization in a class B autoclave, in an empty environment, at 134 ° degrees. This type of autoclave makes it possible to always and at any time verify the operation of the sterilization cycle and the sterility of the instruments. Each self-sealed envelope is then ready for use after this step, and above all safe in a certified manner.

Who is the Podiatrist and what does he do?
In recent years the figure of the podiatrist has been developing throughout the national territory, thanks above all to university education. The Podiatrist is a professional who carries out his activity in private offices or in affiliated hospital facilities, taking care of treating and preventing a series of pathologies affecting the foot. One of the fundamental functions of the Podiatrist is to do prevention at all health levels. On many occasions, in fact, the podiatrist has the opportunity to understand, from the visit to the lower limbs, initial pathological states, thus being able to refer patients to specialist personnel for the care of the case. Podiatry is a branch of medical science that studies physiology, the pathologies and related treatments for foot care.
The podiatrist takes care of the painful conditions of the foot, hyperkeratosis (callosity), onychocriptosis (ingrown toenails) and on medical prescription, warts and ulcers, therefore all deformations and malformations of the foot.
It is a figure that acts preventively on the foot in cases of metabolic diseases (diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, ...) and that finds its field of application in Posturology as the foot is an important receptor of the Postural Tonic System.
COMBATTIAMO L'ABUSIVISMO
IN PODOLOGIA
WE FIGHT ABUSIVISM
IN PODOLOGY
Every day we treat many pathologies of the foot. Among these are not infrequently pathologies that are provoked by the intervention of unqualified personnel. The only operator who can intervene according to the legislation in force on foot pathologies is a Doctor of Podology, then a graduate from the faculties of Medicine and Surgery, in the specific courses that enable the profession of Podiatrist. The same also take into account a path that is called Continuous Education in Medicine, and therefore continuously updated by the Podiatrist. This path is a specific path that prepares the operator to intervene following the podiatry therapy protocols, the rules on asepsis and the sterilization of the environments and of the instruments. We therefore invite you to be careful of those who present themselves as being able to perform “Pedicure curativo”, “Expert in Podology” or whatever. All this is expressed in respect of the interventions of the beauticians who, as stated in their job description, should only deal with the aesthetic field, and promptly send to health care professionals, everything that is not recognized as "aesthetic".
